CORRECT CRAFT, INC. ANNOUNCES MAJOR LAND ACQUISITION
TO RELOCATE WORLD HEADQUARTERS
ORLANDO, FL --- Correct Craft President Walter N. Meloon announced today
the purchase of 137 acres in east Orange County as the site of the new world
headquarters for Correct Craft, Inc.
Located in the Industrial Corporate Park
off the Beeline (SR 528), east of Lake Nona and Orlando International Airport,
the new Correct Craft headquarters will be the anchor for this already-plotted
corporate park in infancy stages of development.
"While my family has owned and operated our boat manufacturing facility on
the same 10 acres in Orlando, Florida, for the past 76 years, the continued
growth of our company necessitates the move of our world headquarters to larger accommodations," Meloon said.
"To continue the legacy of our Correct Craft team and the tireless effort and
determination all of us have put into building what is recognized as the finest
waterski and wakeboard boats in the world, we need to double the size of our
current 125,000 sq. ft. headquarters," added Meloon.
Plans for the new site include administrative offices and a manufacturing plant
of 300,000 sq. ft., as well as two lakes. One lake will be used for daily testing of
the design and craftsmanship of Correct Crafts world-famous Nautiques water
ski and wakeboard towboats. The second will be a tournament lake.
"Having a tournament lake at our headquarters enables waterskiers and wakeboaders to put our boats through their paces to set new world records,"
Meloon adds. "All current waterskiing world slalom and jump records have been set behind a Ski Nautique."
Dedication of the land for the new headquarters is set to take place in mid-November. Presently architectural and construction bids are in process.
The entire project is slated to take three years. Construction is estimated to
begin within the next 24 months, with completion of the facilities taking an
additional 12 to 15 months.
The current corporate headquarters on Orange Avenue in Pine Castle will be
sold once the new site is completed.
Having celebrated its 75th Anniversary at the start of the Millennium, Correct
Craft currently employs some 300 people in Central Florida and has produced
approximately 175,000 boats since its founding in 1925.
Correct Craft boats have pulled all IWSF World Water Ski Championships since 1993 and will be pulling the 2001 Worlds. In 2000 alone, Correct Craft
Nautiques have been chosen as the towboat for the Hyperlite Tour, the Liquid
Force 100 Days on Water Tour, the DoubleUp Experience Tour, the Ski
America Tour and SeaWorld Adventure Parks.
In the world of wakeboarding, Correct Craft has pulled the WWA Wakeboard Nationals for eight consecutive years. As the towboat for the WWA World
Wakeboard Championships for the fifth consecutive year, Correct Craft has also been chosen as the exclusive towboat for all Canadian National Series
events for the next five years.
For 2001, Correct Craft continues to meet and exceed the demands and desires of water skiers and wakeboarders, alike, around the world. Ahead of
its time, Correct Craft remains the industry trendsetter as the oldest family-owned and operated boat manufacturer in the world.
