How To Improve Your Water Skiing - Studying For The Exam - By Jamie Beauchesne

July 2003

Waterskiing is like taking an exam, what most skiers forget about is studying. (studying is training,  off the water) Weight lifting and the gym are average ways to study.  Water skiing isn't an average activity so going to the gym doesn't appeal to most skiers.  I use rock climbing and yoga to study for my ski exams!
Both very good for any skier.

Rock climbing can be hard on the body just like skiing, so I suggest climbing in the off season. Yoga is great to keep the mind sharp.  There are many ways to practice yoga, I recommend simply doing the sun salutations!  The key for me is to do a little yoga everyday.  If I do too much, I don't want to do it the next day.  Some people think yoga is dorky or girly, but when you see the buoys pile on to your average performances, you'll know the truth!!
